DART First State's 1st Annual Statewide Transit Theme Poster Contest
2002 Theme is "How Public Transit Will Get You There In The Future"

DART First State announced today that its First Annual Statewide Transit Theme Poster Contest resulted in eleven entries from which three student artist winners were chosen. The winning entries were chosen on the basis of adherence to the theme, graphic presentation, and originality. All three winners will receive DART First State award certificates, gifts and prizes from DART First State and its poster contest Business Partners, radio stations WAFL Eagle 97.7 FM, Milford, and WJBR 99.5 FM, Wilmington.

Grand Prize WinnerThe Grand Prize was awarded to Megan Johnson, a 7th grade student at The Independence School in Newark, for her artistic depiction and interpretation of this year's contest theme, "How Public Transit Will Get You There In The Future." Megan's winning poster features futuristic air cushioned, sleek & flexible passenger transit vehicles.

First Place was awarded to Emily Kearns, 6th grade student at the Independence School in Newark, DE. Second place was awarded to Greg Allis, 7th grade student at Postlethwait Middle School in Camden, DE.

The statewide transit theme poster contest, open to students in grades 6 - 8, is held in an effort to encourage students to learn about Delaware's public transportation system and how it benefits all Delawareans and our environment. This year's poster theme was "How Public Transit Will Get You There In The Future".

The Grand Prize Winning poster will be displayed on DART First State buses, on the web at DartFirstState.com, and posted in Delaware Transit Corporation offices statewide.
